With The Big Event only a week away, there are a million emotions running through my mind. Things I need to pack, and things I need to do all while dealing with classes, work, and homework. It’s important this week to take time for yourself to make sure that you are ready for the big event. Here are 7 things you all should do in the next week:
1. Finish your fundraising
If you haven’t finished your fundraising, you need to get on that! Send out emails, post your donor page on all of your social media sites, and ask your friends to help you come up with the money for the Big Event! $400 is possible so ask around and everyone will make it happen!
2. Go to team check in
Talk with your morale captain and figure out when your team check in is! At check in, you’ll get your lime shirt for the big event, your bag, dancer information, and be able to buy some cool merchandise for the big event! Side note, if you don’t have a lime green fanny pack, check in is the place to buy it!
3. Ease up on your workouts
This is definitely not the week to go to body boot camp and overkill your body. Take it easy. Get plenty of sleep. Watch Netflix all week. Whatever puts you at ease, do it. Relax and pump yourself up for Friday!
4. Load up on carbs
This is the best part of this blog: eat all week J. In the week before each DM, i’ve eaten a TON but also watched what I ate (if that makes sense). Make sure you’re eating healthy and nourishing your body with healthy foods, but also make sure you are eating lots of carbs. On the day of the big event, I’ve always gone to Z’mariks and eaten a rice bowl to load up on protein and carbs. Believe me, your body will thank you at the big event.
5. Watch your caffeine
If you’re anything like me, you rely on your morning coffee to get you through your day. Or if you’re anything like one of my roommates, you have a bottle of Coke at your side during every meal. Take it easy on the caffeine because there is none allowed at The Big Event. If you’re someone who needs it on a daily basis, try a few days this week without it to make sure you won’t have withdrawals at the event!
6. Pack your bag!
Now for the fun part! Grab your flare, face-wash, toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush, a change of clothes, and your themed hour outfit and put it in your bag. REMEMBER NO COATS!
7. GET EXCITED!
The Big Event is only 7 days away! Which means that we only have 168 hours until the big event. Dance Marathon is one of my favorite weekends of the year and throughout all of the stress and crabby and tired emotions, it is so important to remember to enjoy yourself! The event is all about having fun and being grateful for everything that we have so all you need to do is just that! J
